Onboard decoding of formats for analog multichannel output
LPCM
- Multichannel 5.1 LPCM
- Seems to be working ok
- Multichannel 6.1 LPCM
- Checked with Crank - works ok
- Multichannel 7.1 LPCM
- Need to Check
Dolby Formats
- Dolby Digital
- TBD
- Dolby Digital EX
- Does not work correctly
- Confirmed this with Disturbia on Bluray
- An external processor connected via SPDIF sees it with the EX flag and provides the center surround, but the onboard decoder does not provide this.
- The physical connections of the setup were re-verified using test tones to make sure something wasn't connected.
- No signal in the Center Surrounds (A.K.A. back left and right) from the onboard decoder when an outboard decoder does.
- Dolby Digital Plus
- Seems like it works
- Dolby TrueHD
- Dolby TrueHD does not come out of the multichannel outputs.
- Two Channel only
- This is in the manual (page 10), and confirmed by users.
- We hope this will get fixed
DTS Formats
- DTS 5.1
- TBD
- DTS 6.1 ES
- Does not work correctly
- Confirmed this with Disturbia on Bluray
- An external processor connected via SPDIF sees the DTS ES 6.1 stream and provides the center surround, but the onboard decoder does not provide this.
- The physical connections of the setup were re-verified using test tones to make sure something wasn't connected.
- No signal in the Center Surrounds (A.K.A. back left and right) from the onboard decoder when an outboard decoder does.
- We hope this will get fixed
- DTS-HD High Resolution Audio
- DTS-HD Master Audio
- DTS-HD Master Audio does not come out of the multichannel outputs, we think.
- It is not a straight forward test, since there is multichannel audio coming out, but the assumption is that it is the standard "DTS Core" embedded in DTS-HD.
- There are various reports that this is to be fixed in a firmware release due in either January or February 2008.
